The ATA Black Belt Academy of Harbor Springs and Petoskey was organized in Northern Michigan in 2000 by 4th Degree Black Belt ATA Certified Instructor Tinh Nguyen.  Mr. Nguyen began his martial arts training in Lansing and was taught by several of the most respected and senior instructors in the ATA. They include; Grand Master Robert Allemier, 7th Degree Senior Master Carl Flotka and 6th Degree Master Joseph Lance.  Mr. Nguyen has had a passionate interest in the martial arts since a young boy in Vietnam and has been studying the art since 1992. He came to the United States when he was 12 years old, graduated from Harbor Springs High School and Lansing Community College and has lived in the Harbor Springs area since 1986.  He is married to Melissa, and they have two children, Brooke and Brandon.
